Welsh was appointed as manager in October 2006 following the departure of Mixu Paatelainen He had been on the coaching staff at Central Park for four years and was instrumental in helping the club achieve performance league status. Brian will also be remember by Blue Brazilians for his time as a player which included his part in the promotion victory over Brechin City in 2001. In his first season in charge, Welsh led the Club to safety and a very creditable 6th place in the 2nd Division. The former SPL defender , who has played for managers such as Jim McLean and Alex Miller, spent eleven years at Tannadice In 1996 he was transferred to Hibernian for £200,000. The big defender was also a star of the Scotland under 18 side that reached the 1986 European Championship semi-final before narrowly going down to Italy. |

Position: Manager Date of Birth: 3rd February 1967 Occupation: Full-time Ambitions for Season: We must look to achieve safety first. If we can do that we can then start to look at the play-offs and the possibility of promotion. Previous Coaching Experience: Cowdenbeath Youth Academy 2002-2006 Football Hero: In terms of previous managers it would have to be Jim McLean and Ivan Golac. Current day player would be Steven Gerrard. |
Football Highlight: Winning the Scottish Cup, scoring in the semi-final with Dundee United and being on stand-by for the national team are great highlights. But scoring in the play-off to save Dundee United's premier status sticks out - think it was voted the most important United goal ever! Biggest Disapointment: Having to retire earlier than I would have liked through injury. Was out of football for two years and fell out of love with the game. My involvement at Central Park helped restore my determination and need for the game.
