Cowden Manager Brian Welsh added Doherty to his squad before the close of the summer transfer window on a loan deal for Hearts. The Northern Irish under 19 cap has signed up until the end of the year.

Doherty is primarily considered a winger but can also play as a striker.

The 20-year old spent a similar spell at Central Park in the 2nd half of last season. He made an early impact before struggling with injuries but came back into the side at the end of the season and scored against Ayr United.
