Vital Win Against Airdrie United

Posted March 17, 2013

COWDENBEATH  3 AIRDRIE UNITED 2

A last gasp goal from Craig Moore gave us a narrow win over Airdrie United at Central Park on Saturday afteroon. Despite dominating the opening period of the game it was the visitors who opened the scoring with their first effort on goal after 12 minutes with Jordan Moore slotting the ball past Colin Stewart.

The Diamonds joy was short lived as Marc McKenzie equalised within 60 seconds. After having a Moore "goal" chopped off for offside early in the second half we eventually took the lead in 68 minutes with Greg Stewart shooting home from close range.

Jimmy Boyle's side never gave up and with eight minutes remaining sub Jordan Kirkpatrick fired home a 20 yard shot to level the score. However with just two minute remaining Craig Moore scored for the third successive game to give us the three points.

The win see's us move up to seventh place in the Irn Bru First Division level on points with Hamilton Accies but with a slightly better goal difference.

Speaking after the game manager Colin Cameron said "Before the game I told the lads if we were to win and results else where went our way we could move above Hamilton and thats the way it turned out." The gaffer continued "Airdrie are always a hard side to beat as they never give up, but once again the determination of our lads saw us battle to the end with Craig Moore getting the late winner."

We are back on home soil once more on Tuesday night when we face second place Partick Thistle at Central Park (kick - off 7.45 p.m.).
