Developing and nurturing young players is a key aim of Cowdenbeath FC and the club has run a highly respected youth system since the early 1990s bringing through a host of players who have gone onto progress to a higher level such as Alan Combe (Scotland, St Mirren & Kilmarnock), Garry Wood (Ross County), Graeme Brown (Ayr United), Liam Buchanan (Partick Thistle), Stephen Husband (Hearts & Blackpool), Darren McGregor (St Mirren) and Peter Bradley (St Mirren). In addition, many players have progressed to the 1st team with former youth players Jon Robertson, Scott Linton, Dene Droudge John Ferguson and Dean Brett all key players in Jimmy Nicholl's current first team squad.

This year, the Blue Brazil Youth Academy, led by Head of Youth Development Bob Paterson and a team of talented coaches, will be running teams at under 19s, 15s, and 14s in the Scottish Football League Youth Initiative divisions.

The club also has a full-time youth development programme with a squad of youngster currently combining training daily at Central Park with taking part in the Scottish Football Association further education programme.
