Wednesday night's draw for the second round of the League Cup has paired us with Saturday's opponents Falkirk with the tie being played at the Falkirk Stadium on either Tuesday 26th or Wednesday 27th August.

 

We of course beat Clyde at Broadwood to progress into the second round while the Bairns beat Montrose 3-1 in the first round.

 

Our only success against Falkirk in the League Cup came back in season 1970/71 when both sides were top flight clubs and fought out a two legged epic quarter final tie which saw Cowden win 1-0 at Brockville before going down to Rangers in the semi final.

 

Other than that previous games, all played in group games apart from the last meeting in 2006, make disappointing reading for Cowden fans apart from two draws in the early 1960s.

 

Hopefully we can improve on our record in a few weeks time!
