Our League Cup run came to an end at the Falkirk Stadium last night as we bowed out 4-3 on penalties after a goal less 120 minutes. The Stadium has never been a happy hunting ground for us as we had lost our six previous games there.
Sean Higgins came close to breaking the deadlock in the second half when his 30 yard shot bounced off the underside of the home crossbar but bounced outwards and the danger was cleared.
The home side then had the opportunity to open the scoring in extra time when Loy was fouled by Wedderburn on the bye line but he blasted the resultant penalty wide of the target.
Keeper Jamie MacDonald was the home hero in the penalty shoot out saving from Higgins, Milne and Johnston while Campbell , Brett and Wedderburn were on target for us.
Thomas Flynn had saved from Boulding but was beaten by Vaulks , Loy and Shepherd before Rowan fired his kick off the post. However after Johnston's effort had been saved Craig Sibbald beat the Cowden keeper to earn his side a home tie with either Rangers or Inverness CT.
