The Falkirk Stadium has never been a happy hunting ground for us and so it proved again on Saturday afternoon. Following our three game unbeaten run which moved us off the foot of the table the 125 Cowden fans who headed over the Kincardine Bridge would have hoped for us to continue that run but instead witnessed our heaviest defeat in a decade.
Things started brightly enough and in the opening minute a good run and cut back from Gallagher gave Sean Higgins a shot on goal but unfortunately the skipper sent his shot wide of the target.
Three minutes later it was the Bairns who opened the scoring when Rory Loy knocked the ball home from close range. With 19 minutes gone we then went further behind when a David Smith free kick from the left floated into the far corner of the Cowden net.
A torrid opening 45 minutes then saw Alex Cooper lash home a third goal ten minutes from the break and three minutes later Peter Grant made it 0-4.
Seven minutes into the second half in was 0-5 with David McCracken adding to the home sides goal tally before Will Vaulks fired home a 20 yard shot in the last minute to complete a miserable afternoon.
This leaves us bottom of the Championship once more just below Alloa on goal difference, although it is tight at the bottom with seventh place Dumbarton only two points ahead of us.
Next Saturday we take a break from the Championship when we head to Station Park to face League 1 leaders Forfar Athletic in the William Hill Scottish Cup.
