Wardlaw pens deal

PostedJune 20, 2009

Danny Lennon made his first pre-season signing this afternoon after securing the signature of former Raith Rovers and Ayr United striker Gareth Wardlaw on a one-year deal. The 30-year old verbally agreed a deal with Lennon last weekend but was only able to put pen to paper following his return from holiday.

Wardlaw joined Raith Rovers last summer, after turning down a new contract from promotion rivals Ayr United, and played his part in the Stark's Park's 2nd Division title win. The powerful striker was in demand again this summer after Rovers released him but opted to make the move to Central Park.

The Fifer started out with local amateur side Burntisland Shipyard where he was a prolific scorer. His performances for the Scottish amateur international side - 9 goals from 11 caps - earned a move to Ayr United in 2004 where he spent 3 and a half seasons.
