Match Preview: Cowdenbeath v Stenhousemuir

PostedDecember 14, 2009

The Blue Brazil face Stenhousemuir in a re-arranged Irn-Bru Second Division fixture on Tuesday night (kick off 7.45pm) and the league leaders will be looking to take the opportunity to move clear of Stirling Albion.

John Coughlin's Stenny side will provide stiff opposition though with Cowden only managing one victory in six attempts against the Ochiliview side last season. The newly promoted sides have come head-to-head once this season already and Cowden gain some revenge with a fine 2-0 away victory thanks to goals from Jon Robertson and Scott McBride.

Saturday's impressive 2-0 win away to Peterhead stretched Cowden's unbeaten run to nine league games and was the perfect tonic after the disappointing Scottish Cup exit to Alloa Athletic. A goal in each half from Jon Robertson and Joe Mbu kept Cowden on top on goal difference from Stirling Albion.

Gareth Wardlaw (hip), John Armstrong (hamstring) and Dene Droudge (ankle) will all face late fitness tests ahead of the game. Long term casualties Darren McGregor, Danny Mackay and John Dempster miss out again.

Craig Winter will be presented with an award from the Cowdenbeath Community Trust prior to kick off to mark his 300th league game for the club.

Admission The gates open at 6.45pm with admission set at: Adults 12, Concessions 6, Adult and Child 15.
