Match Preview: Cowdenbeath v Peterhead

Posted February 5, 2010

The Blue Brazil are optimistic that they will host their first home league game of 2010 this weekend when Peterhead make the long trip down the coast.

Danny Lennon and his team have not played at home since the 15th of December due to the weather and last Saturday's top of the table clash against Stirling Albion at Central Park was another victim. However, the temperature lifted dramatically during the week and the Central Park playing surface was playable on Friday afternoon and with the overnight conditions looking favourable no pitch inspection is planned.

Cowden have had the upper hand over Peterhead this season with a Challenge Cup win back in August as well as home and away league wins - including the 5-0 win last October. The Blue Toon will be looking for revenge this weekend and will be confident on the back of recent results and new additions to the squad including Barry Wilson.

"The boys are desperate to get going again", commented Lennon.

"We let our standards drop in our last game a fortnight ago and we all want to get back playing and winning games.

"We have a good record against Peterhead this season but they have improved since we last met. They have added to the squad and will be confident on the back of a great win against Arbroath."

Joe Mbu returned to training on Thursday night but Saturday will come too soon while new signing Mark Torrance picked up a knock in training and will also miss out. Kenny Adamson returns to the squad after serving his 2 match suspension while Darren McGregor and John Dempster will be competing for places after coming through a recent reserve fixture.

Admission The gates open at 1.30pm with admission set at: Adults £12, Concessions £6, Adult and Child £15.
