John’s funeral was held at Kirkcaldy Crematorium on Wednesday and there was a wonderful turnout of football folk on the day. It was a truly uplifting service with Dick Campbell and Ross Mathie from the SFA both warmly recalling the inimitable JR and telling some wonderful tales of his time in football. Among those present from the football world were Andy Rolland, Raymond Allan, Archie Knox, Jocky Scott, Jimmy Nicholl, Jim Moffat, Rab Douglas, and many more. Cowdenbeath FC was well represented as were all of John’s former clubs. John really was a truly dedicated professional throughout his long career in the game – he lived the footballing life he loved and the tales and stories told on the day were so characteristic of the banter and camaraderie he had enjoyed through all his years in football.

THE BLUE BRAZILIAN

Cowdenbeath FC’s award winning programme the Blue Brazilian will be available in PDF format – either for individual matches or a season long subscription – in season 2018/19. Thus those unable to make the match or obtain a printed copy can still enjoy the Blue Brazilian. Further details will be announced soon.
