We play our second and final home Betfred Group C game on Saturday when we face Cove Rangers at Central Park on Saturday with a 3 p.m. kick off.

Our opening two games have seen us beat Raith Rovers 2-0 at Bayview Stadium while on Tuesday night we went down 5-2 to Inverness CT at Central Park with Jordyn Sheerin hitting a brace in both games.

Cove opened their games last Saturday at Inverness going down to a Nathan Austin double and on Wednesday night went down 2-1 at home to Hearts with Paul McManus pulling a goal back after Olly Lee and Steven McLean had given Hearts a 2-0 lead.

The out come of Wednesday nights game however depends on an SPFL meeting next week after it was discovered that Hearts fielded an ineligible player - Andy Irving. By coincidence Andy is the son of former Cowden player Andy Irving who suffered a similar fate back in 1991 when a fault with his registration meant that we had to relay a League Cup tie with Arbroath after winning 5-0 as well as being fined by the SFL.

This was the second home game at the Highland League champions new Balmoral Stadium with the official opening taking place last Sunday against Aberdeen when the game was abandoned after Cove's summer signing from Peterhead Jordon Brown sustained a serious head knock. We wish Jordon well in his recovery.
