MATCH PREVIEW – ALBION ROVERS (A)

Posted March 25, 2019

Tuesday night sees the start of two away games against bottom and top of Ladbrokes League Two.

First up is our re-arranged game with Albion Rovers at Cliftonhill with a 7.45pm kick off.

Since flat lining at the bottom of the table since match day one the Coatbridge side got an unexpected lifeline a few weeks ago when they were awarded a 3-0 win and three points after Clyde had been found to have fielded an ineligible player in a match against them last month which the Bully Wee won 1-0.

The boost from getting the three points carried onto the field later that afternoon with Gregor Fotheringham scoring an early goal in a 1-0 win over Stirling Albion at Forthbank.

This was of course their first on the field win since they beat the Binos 3-0 at Cliftonhill back in late September.

Rovers followed up that win over Stirling on Saturday when they beat Elgin City 2-0 at Borough Briggs with former Central Parker Declan Byrne hitting a brace, his first goals for Rovers since ironically signing from Elgin in January.

We have been unbeaten against Rovers this season with two draws and a win. Back in September Lewis McLear gave them the lead at Central Park before Jordyn Sheerin came off the bench to grab a late equaliser.

The first visit to Cliftonhill in December also saw a 1-1 draw with both sides scoring early penalties – Jamie Gallagher for the hosts and Josh Skelly for us while Robbie Buchanan was sent off in the closing stages.

It was another penalty which settled things when Rovers visited Central Park last month with Gary Fraser scoring from the spot in a 1-0 win.
