Traditionally at this time of year Cowdenbeath FC holds its annual Christmas Prize Draw raffle. Given the general Covid situation, and the fact that matches are being played for now behind closed doors, holding a raffle in the normal manner presents real difficulties. However, as a fundraiser and a bit of festive fun we have come up with an alternative based on the popular Football Prize Draw Card where normally you choose a team listed on the card and once all the squares are taken the foil strip is rubbed off to reveal which team/square is the winner.
Thus we are pleased to be able to offer an opportunity to enjoy a little bit of Christmas cheer to our fans via an online version of the Football Card. It costs £10 to buy a square. The best way to enter is to go to the club’s Website and use the Donate to Club 135 link to pay for an entry. Alternatively contact us at office@cowdenbeathfc.com or by Facebook message and we will provide bank account details if you would prefer to make an electronic bank transfer.
The process is that once we have the full 59 squares subscribed we will use a random number generator to assign a number/team to each entrant – so please note you do not need to nominate a number or team. Your number/team will be announced/listed on our media on Saturday 19 December before the draw takes place to decide the winner on the 23rd of December. The draw to decide the winner will also be randomised by the simple mechanism of piggybacking onto the National Lottery Lotto draw on Wednesday 23 December 2020 – whichever number is drawn as the Lotto Bonus Ball on that day will also decide the lucky winner of the Cowdenbeath FC Christmas Football Card 2020 Prize Draw.
And of course here is the important bit! The lucky winner will collect both £100 in cash plus a luxurious Marks & Spencer Christmas Hamper (pictured). Now that would be a nice Christmas present and would help make the closing days of 2020 a bit more enjoyable than most of the rest of the year. But you’ve got to be in it to win it and of course it’s worth a wager, with a prize that is major!
