As we look forward to season 2021/22, Cowdenbeath FC are delighted to now announce that Alex Anderson has accepted the position of Honorary President of Cowdenbeath Football Club.
Born and bred in Cowdenbeath and a follower of Cowdenbeath FC since he was a boy, Alex made the journey from being a ballboy at Central Park to become a much respected Secretary and Chief Executive of Cowdenbeath FC and then was Club President until he stepped down from the Board in 2019. Alex played a crucial role in his years on the Board at Central Park where he was effectively the right hand man of Chairman Donald Findlay - his leadership, experience, boundless energy and commitment served the Club so very well. Alex also earned the respect of many of his peers in Scottish football. Those same qualities were also to the fore when he served on the old Cowdenbeath Town Council as well as in his time as a Major in the TA. Alex began his working life at the age of 15 as a table boy at the Lindsay Colliery. Then, after a spell at Cowdenbeath Workshops, he moved on and worked for many, many years in the chain industry – his full-time working life spanned an incredible 61 years until Alex retired in 2020 at the age of 76.
Only those who have performed very significant service to Cowdenbeath FC over a number of years can have an honorific title conferred by the club. At present, Sandy Ferguson too is an Honorary President of Cowdenbeath FC whilst Tom Ogilvie is the club’s Honorary Secretary.
