Managerial Appointment

Posted November 2, 2021

Cowdenbeath FC are delighted to announce that they have concluded an agreement with Maurice Ross who will now become the club's new manager. Maurice, of course, began his playing career with Rangers where he won all the Scottish domestic honours. He was also recognised by his country and was capped 13 times by Scotland. Subsequently, he played in England for Sheffield Wednesday, Wolves and Millwall. Maurice also played back in Scotland with Aberdeen, Motherwell and Livingston and gained further valuable experience by playing in Norway, China and Turkey. After hanging up his boots, Maurice embarked on a coaching career and began his management career with Egersunds IK in Norway before taking charge at TB/FC Suouroy/Royn and then Vikingur in the Faroe Islands. He then was part of the coaching team at Motherwell and latterly was assistant manager at Notts County.

Cowdenbeath FC Chairman Donald Findlay said, 'I am delighted to confirm that I have tonight appointed Maurice Ross as our new manager. Maurice is a highly regarded young coach and will bring a new approach to the club. His is determined to be successful as a coach and is very ambitious. He is determined to take our club with him in an upwards direction He is taking charge of training tonight, I am convinced that this is the new start we need'.

We also thank our Goalkeeping coach Davie McGurn for taking interim charge of the team over the last week or so. His willingness to assist and his hard work and professionalism was truly appreciated by the Board.

In closing our simple message is to thank you all for all your loyal and continuing support. Let's all now get right behind the new men at the helm at Central Park and move forward to tackle the challenges ahead.
