Saturday At Central Park - An Invite

Posted April 26, 2022

This Saturday, there is no formal Hospitality in place in the Andy Matthew Lounge at Central Park – instead we invite Albion Rovers and Cowdenbeath fans to visit the Bar in said lounge before the match. The bar will be open from 1.30pm.

After the match though we extend an invite to all our Season Ticket Holders, members of the Cowdenbeath FC 100 Club, members of the Cowdenbeath FC Supporters Club as well as the volunteers who do such sterling regular work for us to join us in the bar at 5pm. A light buffet will be laid on and there is a free drink for everyone in attendance. The players and coaching staff will also join us after 5pm. There will then be a presentation ceremony whereby the 100 Club will make a donation to Cowdenbeath FC on behalf of its members. That will be followed by the Club’s annual Player of the Year awards ceremony – where the awards for CFC Player of the Year (instituted 1963), the Players’ Player of the Year and the Goal of the Season will be made. So please do come along and enjoy a bite to eat and drink and a get together with the players/coaches as we prepare for the play off matches ahead.

Our last League game of season 2020/21 was also coincidentally v Albion Rovers and it was after that game that last year’s presentations were made. In 2021 of course Craig Barr won both the Players’ POTY and the CFC POTY awards for the second year running – a Double Double. So can he make it a Treble Double this year? Indeed last year he also won Goal of the Season so that Double was really a Treble - are you keeping up or getting confused!? No-one though has ever been a three time winner of the CFC POTY. Details of the 2021/22 prize winners of course are kept securely under lock and key until the evening in question – but both Player of The Year votes were very close run races especially the CFC POTY where 13 different players attracted support in the voting. Goal of the Season to be frank didn’t have too many contenders until the last month or two when a rich seam was unearthed by our goalsmiths! This year of course we can again have a presentation without masks and with everyone together.
