It’s our very own university challenge on Tuesday night as we look to win our first game of the season at the 13th attempt in a match which kicks off at 7.45pm.
The start of the season is traditionally a struggle for the University with many of their players not returning to the capital until the academic year starts next month. This can be reflected in their scores which see them sitting in 15th place with four points in their opening eight games.
Their only win so far came on the opening day when they beat Dalbeattie Star 3-1 at Islecroft Stadium with their other point coming from a home 1-1 draw with East Stirlingshire the following Saturday.
The six games that they have lost have seen some heavy defeats against Bo’ness (0-5), Gretna 2008 (2-7), Caledonian Braves (0-5) and on Saturday Cumbernauld Colts (0-6). Other more modest losses have been against Gala (2-3) and The Spartans (1-3).
Their top scorer is David Maskrey, son of Steve who wound down his career at Central Park in 1998, with five goals so far.
