Manager Maurice Ross and his charges once again are in the middle of a fixture hiatus - one advantage of that is that it does allow for some injuries to hopefully heal up. December though brings a rush of fixtures despite us having already reached the half way point in our Lowland League match programme.
In order to strengthen our resources for the second half of the campaign and to increase our options up front Cowdenbeath today agreed a loan deal with neighbours East Fife which sees their 21 year old striker Michael Cunningham come to Central Park for the rest of the season.
Michael himself is a Fife lad, and after coming through the youth ranks at Celtic, he joined Dundee in 2019. He then moved to East Fife in 2021 and was awarded a contract extension last February by the Methil club. He also had loan spells with Cumbernauld Colts and Edinburgh City when he was at Dens Park.
Cowden’s Football Operations Coordinator Colin Nelson is delighted that Michael has decided to join us - "He has been a target for the club since August and I'd like to thank Greig McDonald and East Fife for making this loan move happen. Michael really fits the profile of what we want at the club. Young and ambitious as well as being a Fife lad. Look forward to seeing him in action."
Assistant Manager Colin Jack added, "Having worked with Michael before I know the qualities that he will bring to the team and we are indeed delighted that he has decided to join the club."
Michael reports for training tonight and said, "I’m really looking forward to get going, it's been circling for a while now but finally good to get everything sorted. I’ve worked with Colin Jack before at Edinburgh City and have been speaking to him. He spoke highly of the gaffer and the group and told me exactly what the club wants to do."
