It's Easter football as we welcome Civil Service Strollers to Central Park with a 3pm kick off.
Once again the Muirhouse side look set for a top half finish in the Lowland League and after last weekend’s games they sat in ninth place with 51 points from their 33 games.
Three of those points of course came when the sides met at Christie Gillies Park in November when we led at half time when Leyton Bisland scored direct from a corner. However, two goals in the second half from Alieu Faye and Lewis Duffy secured a home win.
Last season of course we crashed out of the Scottish Cup to Gary Jardine’s side losing 4-2 at Central Park. Kris Renton had given us an early lead before former Central Parker Euan Valentine equalised. Liam Buchanan then restored our lead only for Faye to level things before half time. The second half saw both Liam and Robbie Buchanan sent off for second bookings as Faye, who also missed a penalty, and Daniel Irving scored to secure a 4-2 win.
Faye scored 13 goals in the first half of the season but got the opportunity to move to the SPFL with Bonnyrigg Rose in the January transfer window.
This season their Scottish Cup campaign was a short one losing to Highland League Fraserburgh 2-1 at home. Connor Wood and Sean Butcher gave the Broch an early lead before Lewis Duffy pulled a goal back.
In the South Challenge Cup they had a University double win over Herriot Watt and Edinburgh before losing 3-1 to Linlithgow Rose at Prestonfield where Mark Stowe bagged a hat trick for the East of Scotland Premier Division leaders with Marc Laird getting a consolation for Strollers.
Their most successful cup run was in the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup where they beat Bo’ness Athletic 3-1, Burntisland Shipyard 6-3 and Camelon Juniors 2-0 but last Saturday they went down to a surprise 2-1 defeat from Edinburgh University in the Quarter Final East Peffermill. Robbie Cole had given them the lead at half time but both endry and Antoniuk were on the scoresheet for the students.
