It’s the final home game of the season as we welcome University of Stirling for our FC United to Prevent Suicide Lowland League Cup Quarter Final with a 3pm kick off.
While we were beating Berwick Rangers last Saturday in the First Round, the students were 5-2 winners over relegated Dalbeattie Star at Islecroft Stadium.
For the Uni, who finished a creditable fourth in the league, this afternoon will be their 16th cup tie of the season. The Scottish Cup saw them reach the Fourth Round beating Lothian Thistle Hutchison Vale (3-0), Dunbar United (3-1) and League Two Albion Rovers (1-0) before eventually bowing out to Premiership Dundee United 3-0.
The South Challenge Cup saw them reach the Semi Final with wins over Crossgates Primrose 3-1 East Stirlingshire 1-0. Darvel on penalties after coming back from two goals down to draw 2-2, Newton Stewart 5-1 and Clydebank 2-1 before bowing out 4-2 to The Spartans.
In the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup they have reached the Final after beating Dundonald Bluebell 3-1 in the Semi Final on Wednesday night. In the earlier rounds they beat Craigroyston (3-0), West Calder United (1-0), Blackburn United (3-0) and Coldsteam (5-2).
The winners of this afternoon’s tie will play either Tranent Juniors or East Kilbride away from home in the Semi Final next Saturday.
If required the game will be settled by penalties.
