Welcome Matty McDonald

Cowdenbeath Football Club are delighted to announce the signing of midfielder Matthew McDonald from Broomhill FC.

20 year old Matty started his career at Motherwell before moving to Airdrieonians in the summer of 2021. After a season at the Excelsior Stadium, Matty joined Open Goal Broomhill as they were known then and played under Simon Ferry in the last campaign.

Blue Brazil fans might remember that Matty scored in both games against Cowdenbeath last season as his side ran out 3-0 winners in both fixtures.

Manager Calum Elliot commented "Matthew is a super addition to the team. He’s highly motivated and I’ve got no doubts if he has successful season, the team will have a good season also.

He is a really talented boy with outstanding attributes of which like the rest of our young team we want to develop. I’m looking forward to getting him integrated into the group at the earliest opportunity now."

While Matty added "I’m delighted to be here after a good chat with the gaffer and hearing his plans to take the club forward I wanted to be apart of it and am excited for the season ahead."
