Double Signing

PostedJuly 18, 2023

Manager Calum Elliot last night flagged up on Blue Brazil TV that he was looking to strengthen his squad for the early part of the season particularly with Cowden now having the extra games in their schedule given their participation in the Viaplay Cup. To that end, two players were signed after last night’s training session at Central Park.

One is a very familiar face – and it is a pleasure to welcome Dougie Hill back to Central Park some 15 years after he last played for us. Dougie really has enjoyed a fine career but it all really kicked off for him at Central Park when he was a key player in Mixu Paatelainen's championship winning side back in 2006. Since then, Dougie has made over 400 Scottish League appearances and also played for Alloa, Brechin City, Dumbarton, Raith Rovers and Kelty Hearts. At the age of 38, Dougie will add experience to the Cowden back line on what is a one-month deal.

Also joining us at Central Park is Andy Rodden who played as a trialist for us in pre-season. The 21-year-old defender started out in the Rangers Youth academy before joining Partick Thistle in 2016. Andy then was with East Stirling in 2021/22 and then with Clyde last season as well as enjoying a loan spell at Bonnyrigg Rose. We are pleased to now have Andy with us to further strengthen our squad for the challenges ahead.
