Alan Scott

Posted July 21, 2023

Yesterday we were all truly saddened at Central Park to learn of the passing of the club’s Safety Officer, Alan Scott, at the age of 70 from a brain tumour. He had fallen ill just a short time ago.

Many fans will know Alan – he was the man ushering players and managers off the field, organising and coordinating the stewarding, and dealing with any crowd issues when we were in the SPFL. As a Safety Officer he was widely respected and latterly was working at Raith Rovers and Hamilton Park Racecourse. He was a key man for us in our last few years in the SPFL particularly in the period when Covid impacted on the club and its operations. But more than that he was a friend and guide to players, managers, staff and the Board at Central Park. It is his friendship and humour we will most miss. We looked forward to seeing him back at Central Park this season – but it was not to be.

Alan was a police officer in West Lothian for many years. Then he was the Safety Officer plus was on the Board at Livingston FC before coming to Cowdenbeath. He had many strings to his bow though – he was a popular DJ and regularly hosted the Miss West Lothian Charity event. He also was a lecturer at West Lothian College. Our sincere condolences go out to Alan’s family and friends.
