Cowden in the Community Award

PostedAugust 9, 2023

On Sunday 30th July, the Central Park Community Trust were invited to the Scottish FA East Region Grassroots Awards. This was held at The Kilmac Stadium during Dundee FC’s home match v Inverness.

Prior to the match, the Scottish FA announced the winners of the awards in which The Central Park Community Trust were awarded The Best Community Football For All Project award.

The award was presented by representatives from sponsors McDonald’s, Kevin & Fiona, as well as the Scottish FA East Region, and was gratefully received by our Community Development Manager, Dean Ewing, and our Chairperson, Brian Lumsden.

Brian Lumsden, Chair of the Central Park Community Trust said “It was a great honour to attend and receive the “Best Community Football for All Project” East Region Award. It was fitting that I was accompanied by our Development Manager Dean Ewing who has been the driving force behind the Trust and who along with the Community Coaches has built and delivered a range of activities which benefits everyone in our communities, no matter age or ability. Making football accessible to all is a main value of our Trust. Breaking the barrier of cost by making many of our sessions free of charge or as little as 1 per session.

This award represents a fantastic amount of work by our team of Trustees and Coaches from Trust formation in April 2021 and from a standing start post covid to delivering over 2000 Football based sessions in addition to non Football activity targeting areas such as mental health and well-being.

Our thanks go to the SFA East Region and McDonalds for their role in promoting grass roots Football and in recognising our work by granting this award.”
