For the first time in a month we have an away Lowland League game as we head over the River Forth to face Bo’ness United at Newtown Park with a 3pm kick off.
LAST TIME OUT
Last Saturday we had our third successive league draw against Linlithgow Rose at Central Park with Alan Sneddon cancelling out our opener from Ewan MacPherson.
The result saw us drop two places to 11th in the league table while today’s opponents sit in fifth place five points ahead of us and having played a game less.
THE OPPOSITION
Bo’ness were the early pacesetters in this season’s Lowland League winning their opening five games against Gala Fairydean Rovers (3-0) Berwick Rangers (2-1), Tranent (2-1), Gretna 2008 (2-0) and Edinburgh University (4-2).
Albion Rovers were the first team to break their 100% record with a 1-0 win and they went onto lose their next two games against Cumbernauld Colts (0-3) and Civil Service Strollers (0-2).
After that run of defeats, they went on a three- game unbeaten run with wins over Caledonian Braves (2-1), Broomhill (3-0) and a draw with Hearts B (3-3).
They have however lost their last two games against University of Stirling (1-3) and on Wednesday night East Kilbride (2-4).
Last Saturday they were in Scottish Gas Scottish Cup action when they played their delayed game with Luncarty which had been postponed the week before and their 1-0 win has earned them an away trip to Morton.
In the previous round they beat Darvel 3-0 while in the South Challenge Cup they suffered a shock 2-4 home defeat to Cumbernauld United.
