MATCH PREVIEW - UNIVERSITY OF STIRLING (A)

PostedFebruary 7, 2024

We make a quick return to Forthbank Stadium to face University of Stirling with a 7.45pm kick off.

Last month we went down 4-2 to Chris Geddes’s side in the Lowland League Cup while last season the two Lowland League games saw each side win at home, we lost 1-0 at Forthbank but won the return at Central Park 2-0.

LAST TIME OUT

On Saturday our South Challenge Cup run came to an abrupt end when we lost 6-0 at home to East Kilbride in our Fifth Round tie.

THE OPPOSITION

Since their League Cup win the students have lost 4-2 at East Kilbride but have won their subsequent games beating Kelty Hearts 4-1 at New Central Park in the Semi Final of the City Cup and Hearts B 2-1 in the Lowland League which leaves them in eighth place with 35 points from 23 games, two places and five points ahead of us although we have played a game less.

Stirling have won ten league games with their other wins coming against Caledonian Braves (1-0), East Stirlingshire (3-2 & 1-0), Albion Rovers (1-0), Bo’ness United (3-1), Gretna 2008 (3-1), Broomhill (4-1) and Edinburgh University (4-1).

There have been five draws against East Kilbride (1-1), Berwick Rangers (2-2), Albion Rovers (2-2), Cumbernauld Colts (3-3) and Gretna 2008 (1-1).

Their eight defeats have come against Linlithgow Rose (1-3), Cumbernauld Colts (0-3), Tranent (1-2 & 1-2), Gala Fairydean Rovers (0-2), Celtic B (0-1), Civil Service Strollers (0-2) and East Kilbride (2-4).
