MATCH PREVIEW - CLYDEBANK (A)

Posted August 9, 2025

After two home games and two wins, we are back on the road when we face league leaders Clydebank at Holm Park with a 3pm kick off.

We are one of five clubs three points behind the Bankies and sit in sixth place on goal difference.

This will be our first meeting with the Bankies since they were reformed with the last meeting with the previous club being on 23rd March 2002 when we won 2-1 at Central Park in a Second Division match thanks to goals from Iain Mauchlen and an own goal from Simon Vella before Paul McGrillen pulled a goal back for the visitors.

Our last away game with the Bankies was a 1-0 defeat when Darren Jackson scored the only goal of the afternoon in a match played at Cappielow Park in Greenock on 19th January 2002. Our last game to actually take place in Clydebank was on 9th March 1993 when on a dismal cold Tuesday night we lost a First Division game 5-0 with Martin McIntosh, Sean Sweeney, John Hendrie, Ken Eadie and Paul Harvey getting the goals.

Our last win in Clydebank was on 23rd October 1971 when John Dickson, Jim Fallon (og), Billy Laing and Billy Mullen scored in a 4-1 Second Division win with Jimmy Caskie pulling a goal back for the Bankies.

THE OPPOSITION

Clydebank have won all three of their opening league games. Their opening Parks Motor Group Lowland League game pulled in a crowd of 993 fans for a 2-0 home win over East Stirlingshire, with Nicky Lowe hitting a brace.

A midweek trip to Broadwood to face Cumbernauld Colts saw former Central Parker Scott Walker put the home side ahead before Chris McGowan and Dean Cairns secured a 2-1 win.

Last Saturday they were back on the road and beat Civil Service Strollers 5-0 at Christie Gillies Park with goals from Nicky Little, Keir Samson, Aaron Black (2) and Stuart McCann.
