MATCH PREVIEW - TRANENT (H)

Posted August 30, 2025

Tranent are our sixth and final opponents in what has been a busy August in the Park’s Motor Group Lowland League with a 3pm kick off.

The month has seen two wins, two defeats and a draw which has yielded seven of our ten points so far this season. Last Saturday we got things back on track after back to back defeats with a win over Caledonian Braves at Central Park.

After this afternoon’s game we have a run of three games on the road when we visit Cumbernauld Colts, Albion Rovers and Blackburn United.

After Hearts B and Caledonian Braves drew last night, we dropped down a place in the table to 11th while Tranent sit in 13th place 3 points behind us having played a game less.

THE OPPOSITION

Tranent, now under the charge of one time Cowden loanee Robbie Horn, have had a slow start to their campaign and sit in 12th place with two wins, a draw and three defeats in their opening six league matches.

The Belters opened their campaign with a 5-1 win over Hearts B at Ainslie Park with Harry Girdwood scoring four goals while Gregor Crookson put through his own net.

The was followed up with a home goal less draw with Berwick Rangers which was followed up with a 4-0 home win over Albion Rovers with Girdwood, Cammy McKinley (2) and Dean Brett getting the goals.

The trip to face Celtic B then saw a 3-2 defeat with McKinley and Broque Watson on the score sheet. A second successive away defeat followed when they went down 1-0 to Bo’ness United before a 5-0 home defeat to Clydebank which saw Ben Miller sent off.
