We take a break from the Park’s Motor Group Lowland League as we open our Finest Carmats South Challenge Cup campaign with a Second-Round tie against Blackburn United at New Murrayfield Park.
Last week’s narrow defeat against Albion Rovers saw us drop down to ninth place in the league but only two points off third place.
The Burnie are currently in sixth place in the East of Scotland League First Division with 12 points from six games and only two points off top spot having played a game less.
THE OPPOSITION
The Burnie have made a good start to their league campaign with four wins and two defeats.
Most of their games so far have been away from home due to a new surface being laid at their park.
Their two defeats came in the opening two fixtures against Tynecaste (2-3) and away to Edinburgh University (1-5).
A Fife double header then saw them win 2-1 against Kirkcaldy & Dysart and they had a similar score at Thornton Hibs. They then won 2-0 at Whitehill Welfare and 3-1 at Luncarty last Saturday.
In the William Hill Scottish Cup, they lost 3-1 at home to West of Scotland Premier Division side Darvel, in the Second Preliminary Round, with the match being switched to Hermand Park home of West Calder United.
In the East of Scotland Qualifying Cup, they lost 5-0 at Premier Division Haddington Athletic, while they received a bye in the First Round of the South Challenge Cup.
