Stirling Albion 3 Cowdenbeath 4

Posted March 5, 2011

The Blue Brazil produced one of the most remarkable comebacks in living memory to come out on top in a seven goal thriller against relegation rivals Stirling Albion, and snatch three vital points at the death.

Stirling Albion had raced into a 3-0 lead after 67 minutes against a disjointed looking Cowden side and looked home and dry but four goals in the remaining 13 minutes secured a memorable win for Jimmy Nicholl's team.

Sean Welsh took advantage of poor defending to open the scoring for the home side after 40 minutes and worse was to follow when a mix up between the trialist defender and David Hay allowed Michael Mullen (58) to tap into an empty net. Mullen added his second and Albion's third with 23 minutes remaining

The turning point of the game was the introduction of subs Scott Linton, Greg Stewart and Marc McKenzie. Man of the match Mark Ramsay reduced the deficit after 77 minutes with a terrific strike into the top corner from 25 yards but it looked like it would be no more than a consolation goal. However, the belief immediately returned to the team and further goals from Ramsay (penaltly, 82), Archie Campbell (89) and a winner in the dying seconds from Stewart led to scenes of jubilation in the away end of the ground.

The Blue Brazil face another two big games in the next 7 days against sides in the bottom end of the table with Dundee visiting Central Park on Tuesday night (kick off 7.45pm) and Ross County coming to town on Saturday (kick off 3pm).
