Top scorer pens new contract

PostedJuly 6, 2011

Cowdenbeath Football Club is delighted to announce that top scorer Greg Stewart has put pen to paper on a new 1-year deal.

The paperwork on the new contract was finalised this evening and the latest development completes a productive few days for Colin Cameron with Scott Linton, Joe Mbu and Thomas Flynn also agreeing terms for the 2nd Division campaign.

"Greg re-signing is a great boost for everyone at the club", said Cameron.

"He had to be patient last season but his ability was there for all to see with his goals and all round performances in the last quarter or so of the season.

"If Greg continues to work on his game and shows the same application he undoubtedly has the ability to go on and play at a higher level in the future."

Stewart joined the club from the amateur ranks last summer after starring for Falkirk-based Syngenta in the Edinburgh under 21 league.

The 21-year old made 19 appearances (+ 19 as a sub) in his debut season in senior football and scored an impressive 9 1st Division goals.
