Cowden added another SPL scalp to the pre-season unbeaten run with a convincing 4-0 win over a young Dundee United side.

Colin Cameron took the opportunity to rest himself, Dean Brett, Joe Mbu, Greg Stewart and new loan signing Jordan Morton from the side that defeated Hearts in midweek while he was again without John Armstrong (holiday), Thomas O'Brien (foot) and Dene Droudge (close to full fitness after long-term knee injury.

United's youthful side included Steve Banks and Danny Swanson but Cowden's young guns were more than a match for their SPL opponents.

Marc McKenzie opened the scoring after only 2 minutes and Lewis Coult (pictured)doubled the advantage 7 minutes later after finding the bottom corner wiht a good strike.

Mark Ramsay (42) added the third from the penalty spot after 17-year old Lewis Milne was impeded with the goal gaping.

McKenzie completed the scoring after 59 minutes after latching onto a John Ferguson click before rounding the keepr and stroking home for his second of the afternoon.

16-year old Liam Callaghan replaced Jon Robertson with 19 minutes remaining.

The Twitterati rated Yossi Bejaoui and Marc McKenzie as the main contenders for man of the match.
