From Russia with Love (for the Blue Brazil!)

PostedAugust 28, 2011

The Blue Brazil is truly a worldwide brand and fans with a strong affection for Cowdenbeath Football Club can be found all over the UK (from Orkney to Wales and the south of England) and from much further afield.

Many people from the town, famous for its mining heritage, have left Fife for a new life in exotic locations across the globe but have not forgotten about their roots and their local football team. Others, with no connection to the town, such as the regular visitors from the Dublin Supporters' Club, have fallen for the thills and spills of following the Blue Brazil.

Our most recent 'supporters' club' is a group of oil and gas industry workers from a remote Russian island based between Siberia and Japan!

John Drysdale - who is Cowdenbeath born and bred - works for the Wood Group as a construction engineer on Sakhalin Island and his colleagues have developed a passion for his hometown team

"I still live in Cowdenbeath but based on Sakhallin Island due to work", explained John.

"I am a long-time supporter of Cowdenbeath Football Club and purchased a Blue Brazil polo shirt during one of my visits home. Since then the lads I work with - who are from all over the UK, South Africa and Australia - have taken a shine to the club and asked me to bring shirts for them next time Iwas home.

"We all keep a keen eye on the results and hope that 2011/12 will be a successful season for Cowden."

Best wishes to John and his colleagues from all at Central Park. Keep supporting the Blue Brazil!

John and the lads are pictured posing in the polo shirts during a night out in their local (some 'members' are missing from the photo as they were home on leave at the time).
