Cowden Action Fund - £8,895 raised!

Posted†August 29, 2011

The Cowdenbeath FC Action Fund was officially handed over to the football club last week after a fundraising campaign in the summer of 2010 raised almost £9,000.

The funds were committed last year to part-finance the modernisation of the floodlight system with state of the art Phillips lamps replacing the originals which were installed in 1968. The project also received significant investment from Neil Fentie and the Scottish Football Partnership and has seen the lux rating increase from the previous level of 160 to the current 600.

The work marked a major milestone for the football club with the previous lux level some way below the SFA/SFL minimum requirement. This had been an issue for the Club for some years due to the prohibitive costs of upgrading the system. However, the funds raised to improve the floodlights helped the Club avoid a £10,000 fine and has seen a first class floodlghting system installed at Central Park.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to the Action Fund and, in doing so, making this project feasible.

Phil Conroy, Treasurer of the Community Trust, is pictured handing over the cheque for £8,895.64 to Club Chairman, Donald Findlay QC.
