Cowden went down to a narrow defeat at Glebe Park as two controversial refereeing decisions defined a poor game.

Colin Cameron's side did not perform anywhere the high standard set this season and our usual slick passing game was limited by the difficult playing surface with both sides going long more often than not. In fact this was the first time this season that the team failed to find the net in a competitive fixture.

The first goal was always going to be crucial and Jon Robertson looked to have given the away side a first half advantage after jumping unmarked to head home from close range but the referee spotted a mysterious infringement and chalked the 'goal' off.

Charlie King (53) scored the only goal of the game after cooly slotting home from 16 yards but there was more than a hint of offside in the build up to the goal.

Cowden pressed for an equaliser late on without troubling Craig Nelson and the final result was probably a fair reflection on a game that a well organised Brechin side edged over the 90 minutes.

On a positive note, Mark Ramsay (pictured) made his long awaited return from injury as a second half replacement for Kenny Adamson.
