Preview: Dumbarton v Cowdenbeath

Posted March 4, 2012

Cowden once again head to the west of Scotland on Tuesday night to play fellow title contenders Dumbarton.

This is a big one for the Blue Brazil as a win would take us four points clear of Arbroath going into the Fife derby on Saturday at Bayview. Our last away win on the road was back on December the 26th and Colin Cameron will be hoping his side can end that run against the Sons at the Rock.

TEAM NEWS

The Gaffer is still out for this one, along with David Cowan. Youssef Bejaoui and Dean Brett are also both doubtful. Thomas O’Brien is nearer a return as he builds up his fitness and should be available for selection in next couple of weeks.

COWDEN FORM

We have played 13 away league games this season. On our travels we have won four, drawn six and lost three. In these games we have scored 24 goals, conceding 16. We are currently on a six game unbeaten run which has seen three home wins and three away draws since we lost at Forfar on 21st January.

DUMBARTON FORM

The Sons are currently on a ten game unbeaten league run which has taken them to third place. During that run 26 points from the 30 available have been accumulated to take them within eight points of top spot.

Dumbarton have the third best home record in the Second Division behind us and Arbroath. In their 13 home league games they have won seven, drawn two and lost three. In these games they have scored 23 goals and conceded 19. We were the last visiting team to win at the Rock back on 17th September.

PREVIOUS MEETINGS THIS SEASON

So far this season we are unbeaten against the Sons. Back in September goals from Marc McKenzie, Jon Robertson, Jordan Morton and Scott Linton gave us a 4-0 win on our last visit to the Rock. In December they became the first side to leave Central Park with a point this season after a goal less draw.

TRAVEL & ADMISSION

The Miners Mini Tours (sponsored by Wee Jimmies) bus will leave Central Park at 5.45 p.m. with seats still available for non- members at £14 for adults and £10 for OAP and under 12s. Families cost is £20. To book your seat phone 01383 511562.

The Dumbarton Football Stadium is of course an all seated venue with segregation in place. Admission prices are £12 for adults and £6 for concessions.
