Dumbarton 0 Cowdenbeath 2

PostedMarch 6, 2012

The Blue Brazil won their first away game of 2012 to move four points clear at the top of the league and put a serious dent in Dumbarton's title aspirations in the process.

Dumbarton came into the game on the back of a 10-match unbeaten run but Cowden showed their title credentials after mastering the difficult conditions to run out comprehensive victors.

A rare Joe Mbu goal opened the scoring after only three minutes with the Super Joe heading home an early corner before the impressive Marc McKenzie (73) made the points safe after the break with a terrific angled drive.

Thomas O'Brien made a welcome return to first team action and was a standout in the engine room after replacing Mark Ramsay with 20 minutes remaining.

It is derby day next with a visit to Methill on Satuday to face local rivals East Fife.
