Biography:

Darren McGregor (Centre half, 2004-06, 2008-10) - Darren McGregor came through our youth ranks and showed a great deal of promise. He played in the 2006 Championship side but was then released due to his inability to resist rash challenges that left the team short-handed – three times he was sent off for two yellow cards in 2005/06. He rebuilt his career with Arniston Rangers and then Danny Lennon brought him back to Central Park. He was an absolute star for two seasons either at centre half or as a powerful hard-shooting midfielder. The powerhouse McGregor joined Premier League St Mirren in 2010 as Danny Lennon raided his old club. A real man mountain, he made a big impression at Saints. His career though then was badly hampered by two cruciate injuries. Subsequently, he bounced back again and joined Rangers where he won many player of the year awards when they failed to escape from the Championship. It seemed a rather silly move to let him go but Darren was thrilled to join his boyhood heroes Hibs. He of course then was a leading member of the Hibs team that won the 2016 Scottish Cup.
