Ross County 1  Cowdenbeath FC 1

Date: 5th February 2011 Kick off: 3:00pm
Competition: Irn-Bru 1st Division Referee: Brian Winter
Venue: Victoria Park Attendance: 2020
Man of the Match: Archie Campbell

Our sixth successive away game saw our first trip of the season to Dingwall after Victoria Park passed an early morning pitch inspection.

Manager Jimmy Nicholl handed debuts to new signings Lee Makel, Archie Campbell and Stevie Crawford.

In the very first minute recent signing Milne burst into the Cowden box and his pass gave Corcoran a chance but his shot hit Winter and went out for a corner.

Milne then hit a post and the ball rebounded out to Brittain who shot over.

Milne showed great opportunism with an overhead kick which Hay saved well before Crawford threatened with a shot which drifted wide.

But it was not long before County were flooding forward again and Corcoran’s pass set up Di Giacomo whose shot was too high.

But then on the half hour the home side went ahead. Jason Marr was given time, after a good piece of work by the home side, to curl a shot into the far corner giving Hay no chance.

County went for a second before the break but the Cowden defence worked overtime to keep them out but shortly after the interval Wood passed up a good opening for County.

Campbell’s pace was causing County trouble and a penetrating run down the county right saw him fire over a dangerous cross and Mark Fitzpatrick, racing back to cover, only succeeded in knocking the ball into his own net for our equaliser after 53 minutes.

This gave Cowden confidence and Crawford shot past before Armstrong headed over.

Hay had to be on the alert to stop Milne trying to latch onto a through ball but in reply Campbell’s fierce shot hit the joint between the post and bar and bounced to safety.

County were not for giving up and it needed a packed defence to stop Gardyne, whose shot was deflected for a corner, before Milne fired wide again under pressure from the the well organised Cowden rearguard as the clock ran down.
