A Cowden reserve side breezed into a semi final tie with East Fife after a goal rout at Recreation Park.

After a few early chances the deadlock was broken after seven minutes when Miller slipped the ball to Marc McKenzie who fired a low shot into the bottom corner of the net.

The chances kept on coming and a thunderous 25 yard drive from Ferguson was tipped onto the post by keeper Chalmers.

A second goal eventually came after 26 minutes when Armstrong was brought down in the box and Scott Linton slotted home the resultant spot kick.

Two minutes later Linton turned provider with a free kick which was headed home at the back post by Dale Finnie.

A couple of minutes from the break we added a fourth goal when a McKenzie cross was deflected into the path of John Ferguson who bundled the ball home from close range.

Five minutes after the restart we had the ball in the net once more when Linton blasted home from 30 yards but the whistle had gone for a foul.

The fifth goal was only delayed for eight minutes however with John Armstrong sending home a powerful header from a corner.

McKenzie made it six after 64 minutes rounding the keeper to slot into an empty net after a through ball from Linton.

A minute later we had another goal disallowed when Bennett headed home from a corner but referee Brown deemed that a foul had been committed. Seconds later however Linton fired in a 30 yard effort via the post to make it 7-0.

McKenzie then completed his hat trick with our second penalty of the night following a handball.

A minute later Ferguson got his second goal of the night when he fired into the roof of the net following some good play.

Bennett made it 10-0 with 17 minutes remaining with a header before Lewis Milne completed the scoring in 80 minutes with a fierce 30 yard shot which Chalmers failed to keep out despite getting both hands to it!
