A late, late goal from Lewis Mine, his first for the first team gave us a deserved point at the Braidwood Motor Company Stadium last Saturday.
Given the contrasting fortunes of both sides since the former Meadowbank Thistle moved to West Lothian in 1995 this was only our third league game at the Stadium and Milne’s goal brought back memories of our first visit in 1995 when an injury time goal from Kevin Bowmaker gave us a 1-0 win.
Colin Cameron made one change to the side which had drawn with Falkirk with Greg Stewart returning at the expense of Milne as he went with two up front.
The opening period saw both defences dominate and after Andreu had went close for the home side McKenzie almost opened the scoring for us when he headed just over from a Stevenson cross.
Ten minutes into the second half we were reduced to ten men after Armstrong clashed with Andreu and referee Allan produced a straight red card for the Cowden captain.
In a tactical switch Stewart was then replaced by Garcia Rey but the home side eventually took the lead after 71 minutes when a Russell shot was blocked and Keaghan Jacobs fired home a shot which deceived Flynn.
To their credit Cowden’s ten men battled on and Jamie Stevenson could have had a hat trick if it wasn’t for three class saves by keeper McNeill.
However the Livi custodians third save pushed the ball onto the crossbar and Lewis Milne was first to react and headed home the rebound.
