he saying goes that things even themselves out over the course of a season and after losing to a last minute goal to Raith Rovers in the previous home game the balance tipped in our favour with Kane Hemmings bagging an injury time winner to give us our first league win of the season.

Hemmings was one of two changes to the side which had lost in extra time at Firhill in the League Cup with the returning Jon Robertson going straight into the line- up with Andrew Russell and Greg Stewart dropping to the bench.

After an open first quarter of an hour, we took the lead in 21 minutes when Hemming held the ball up before passing to Jamie Stevenson who found space 17 yards out to fire a powerful right foot shot high over keeper Ewings. However minutes later he had to go off injured and was replaced by Morton.

Hemmings looked dangerous on the attack and on the half hour he fired in a low drive which deflected off McKenzie.
In reply Agnew had a couple of shots for the Sons which caused little concern as we went into the break.
As they proved last season under Ian Murray Dumbarton are a side which never give up and within six minutes of the restart they were back on level terms when Chris Turner fired in a 20 yard shot which seemed to surprise Adam, who got a hand to the ball but couldn’t keep it out.

Morton then fired in an angled 30 yard drive which brought a good save out of Ewings but it was Turner who was to score again with a 25 yard shot in 64 minutes.
However eight minutes later Jon Robertson had us back on level terms when he picked up on a defensive lapse and ran clean through and cleverly chipped the ball over Ewings from 14 yards.

Hemmings then fired in a 25 yard shot which was saved by Ewings as we went all out for a winner.

In a dramatic close to the game Morton was brought down in the box by McGinn but his low spot kick was saved by the keeper.

All was not lost however and as we went into time added on Kane Hemmings ran onto a Stewart pass and fired a 16 yard angled shot past Ewings for a deserved win.
