Despite a late rally we left New Douglas Park pointless and with nothing to show for our efforts.

There was one change to the previous week’s line up with Jamie Stevenson recovering from his injury and he took over from Andrew Russell.

The first 45 minutes saw Hamilton have a lot of possession and the Cowden midfield had to work hard to smother the danger.

Antoine Curier tested Adam before Gordon shelled one wide from a good position, following a corner.

Hemmings tested Cuthbert with a snap shot then Stevenson curled a free-kick just wide but the longer the half went the more the hosts probed the Cowden defence without real danger being created.

Several corners asked questions but Cowden found the answers and at the break the sides were level.

Six minutes into the half Accies grabbed the lead. Ziggy Gordon took advantage of some space, after some good work by Crawford, and slipped the ball past Adam from close in.

The young defender however only lasted a few more minutes as he took the full impact of the ball from a Stevenson kick on the head and had to be replaced.

Morton went close before Wedderburn might have done better from close in than shoot wide.

Hamilton had the ball in the net again but Adam had gone down in a challenge in his box and the referee called a halt before the ball was thumped into the empty goal.

The keeper recovered and Cowden saw Hemmings bring out a fine block from Cuthbert before Robertson had a great chance, as the clock started to run down, but somehow he could not turn the ball into the net from close in after Cuthbert had blocked an effort from sub Stewart.

As the game went into the closing seconds Stevenson curled a shot over and we were left still looking for an away point.
