For the second successive week the under 19s recorded a 5-1 win at New Recreation Park in Rosyth on Sunday afternoon.
Cowden dominated the early proceedings but had to wait until the 34th minute before they broke the deadlock when a cross-cum shot from the left by John Ferguson (GOAL, 34 mins) flew over keeper Laurie Spence and landed high into the top corner of the Shire net.
Three minutes later Ross Gray (GOAL, 37 mins) doubled our advantage when he fired a powerful shot home from 16 yards and Rory Emslie (GOAL, 40 mins) added a third after 40 minutes when he prodded the ball home from close range after the Shire defence failed to clear a Gray corner.
The visitors did however pull a goal back after 62 minutes when Josh Mullin (GOAL, 62 mins) fired an angled lob over Jackson from 16 yards.
Cowden came close to restoring their three goal advantage after 69 minutes but were denied by a fine double save from Spence. Firstly he parried an Emslie shot out from a corner and from the resultant kick Emslie sent in a header which the keeper did well to tip onto the crossbar.
Another quick fire goal burst sealed Cowden’s win. Ferguson (GOAL, 72 mins) got his second goal of the afternoon after 72 minutes when he fired a low 20 yard free kick into the bottom corner and then three minutes later Chris King (GOAL, 75 mins) completed the scoring when he picked up a loose ball and sent a low shot past Spence from 16 yards.
