Cowdenbeath FC 3  Brechin City 0

Date: 14th November 2015 Kick off: 3:00pm
Competition: Ladbrokes League 1 Referee: Mr Alan Newlands
Venue: Central Park Attendance: 386

After the previous weeks scheduled game at Albion Rovers was twice postponed we got back into action despite Storm Abigail’s best attempts with the Central Park pitch passing a mid- morning inspection.

Once again it was the same starting line- up which took the field for the fourth successive match.
We got off to a great start with a goal in ten minutes from the penalty spot. Callaghan’s curling free-kick struck Dods’ hand, with Smith lurking at the back post, and the ref rushed to the spot. Up stepped Dean BRETT to made an expert job of the penalty award.

As we pressed for a second goal Adamson’s 20 yard right foot shot was saved by  Smith.
City responded with a good move which saw Layne fire in an 18 yard shot which Scullion deflected for a corner, then McLean fired a header just wide.

As City kept looking for a way back into the game Layne saw his fierce 16 yarder blocked by a brave Scullion challenge before the on loan Alloa man was only inches away from reaching a low McLean cross.

Two minutes into the second half saw Miller’s 25 yard take  a deflection off Perry and went inches wide.
Then Smith made a great run into the City box and his low shot was blocked by a fine Perry tackle
.
But at the other end, in 56 minutes, it took a fine save from Sneddon to keep the Fifers ahead after Bates got in a fierce shot.
Then Sneddon was the home hero again when he got his hand to an Andy Jackson close-in flick.

At the the other end a Murdoch cross set up Miller and his shot was blocked by Dods.
But in 75 minutes Cowden got number two. Sam Orritt’s corner was perfect for Scullion to flick on and Aldin EL ZUBAIDI headed home from close in.

Then four minutes later a Johnston pass set up Callaghan and his shot came back off the bar but with seconds left Johnston fed Greig SPENCE and from close in he tapped in number three.
