Saturday 19th March 2016. Ladbrokes League 1 Match No 30. Crowd – 2335.
The old saying that luck goes for you when your top of the table and against you when you are at the bottom was never so true in the last derby game of the season as a deflected free kick from Rhys McCabe took the Pars within touching distance of the title.
A bright sunny day brought out the biggest crowd of the season to Central Park and we opened the game well with a McDaid corner causing the Pars defence problems while a low shot from El Zubaidi was blocked by McKay.
With 18 minutes gone a chip from Wallace was grabbed by Adam and four minutes later the Pars striker had another chip which hit the top of the bar.
In 26 minutes we had our best chance of the afternoon when a sweeping pass from Milne set up Spence but he sent his shot wide from eight yards.
Then five minutes from the break Milne made a break through the middle of the Pars defence but his 20 yard shot was saved by the diving Murdoch.
Dunfermline opened the second half well and El Bakhtaoui tested Adamwith a 10 yard drive before Wallace fired wide from 18 yards with a curling shot.
At the other end Murdoch held a 25 yard first time shot from Spence and on the hour mark Adam made a fine double save from El Bakhtaoui.
In 70 minutes a fierce left footed shot from McDaid was blocked by the Pars defence and with just nine minutes to go the visitors grabbed the winner.
El Bakhatoui went down easily after being nudged by Gibbons and Rhys McCABE, who had only been on the park for two minutes, fired in the resultant free kick which deflected off Mine to beat Adam.
