Peterhead 0  Cowdenbeath FC 1

Date: 26th March 2016 Kick off: 3:00pm
Competition: Ladbrokes League 1 Referee: Mr David Lowe
Venue: Balmoor Stadium Attendance: 703

Greig Spence’s 17th goal of the season gave us a vital three points at a blustery Balmoor Stadium.

The result moved us back up to eighth place in the table and ended the Blue Toons 19 game unbeaten run as well as their faint title hopes.

We opened the game with the ferocious wind at our backs and home keeper Smith even failed to get a clearance out of his own box in the opening minutes due to the conditions.

Callaghan had our first chance of the afternoon but his low drive was blocked by Blockley while a long range effort from Brett whistled just past the home post.

The deadlock was however broken with 31 minutes gone when a goal kick by Smith was held up in the wind and Milne slotted the ball to SPENCE who showed great composure to slot the ball past the keeper.

The second half had the expected Blue Toon pressure on the Cowden goal but the defence stood firm.

Adam pulled off a stunning save from a McAllister free kick but the best chance of the afternoon fell to sub Rodgers who lost his composure, when a long kick out from Smith eluded the defence, and when he had plenty of time to pick his spot he hooked the ball over the bar.
