A spectacular own goal from Ayr sub Sean McKenzie two minutes after he came into the game gave us three vital points and a second home win of the season over the Honest Men.
We made a lively start to the match and within two minutes Milne burst through the visiting defence and brought out a good save from Fleming.
Just a minute later Brett sent a left footed shot just wide and then Fleming once again denied Milne, blocking his shot.
In 21 minutes a deep cross from the right was headed towards goal by Spence but his effort came off the crossbar.
As the pressure on the away goal continued Fleming denied McDaid after the midfielder had made a good run, and minutes later the youngster was brought down by Donald but Callaghan’s resultant free kick was blocked by the defensive wall.
Soon after Brett sent another free kick just wide and as the first half came to a close Fleming once again denied both McDaid and Spence.
Five minutes into the second half Milne cut the ball back to Spence from the bye line but Fleming parried the ball to safety.
Another Spence run saw a timely block from Graham at the expense of a corner and McDaid’s 54th minute flag kick was powerfully headed into the net by Sean McKENZIE as he attempted to clear the danger.
Ayr however had a few chances to get back level in the closing stages Adam saved a Docherty shot and with eight minutes to go a shot from McCrorie cannoned off the bar with Trouten sending the rebound high over.
Docherty the sent a 25 yard shot off the bar with three minutes remaining while with a minute to go Graham sent his header wide from a corner.
