A goal 20 minutes from time from Martin Bavidge saw us miss out on the opportunity of closing the gap on league leaders Alloa.

There was one change to the side which had beaten Stenhousemuir with Paul McQuade coming back into the side at the expense of John Dempster.

In an almost uneventful opening period Cowden had the best of the chances with the best coming from a Fairbairn corner which was flicked on by McGregor to Armstrong who saw his close range header blocked by keeper Bateman.

As the interval loomed Winter then saw a long range effort go just wide of the post.

The second period opened in similar fashion with Cowden looking to make a breakthrough and another corner from Fairbairn caused problems in the home defence with McQuade’s close range shot being blocked by the keeper.

Wardlaw then fired in a 20 yard shot which deflected off a home defender with Bateman managing to tip the ball onto the crossbar. Sub Stein then saw an angled shot saved by the keeper.

The deadlock was broken in 70 minutes when the Blue Toon scored with their first shot on target.

Gethins set up Martin Bavidge who fired a powerful 20 yard shot high into the Cowden net.

Gethins then had a couple of good chances to increase the home sides lead. Firstly he had a shot parried to safety by Hay then Adamson blocked a close range shot.
